Human Rights Campaign Case Study (PowerPoint)

    Human Rights Campaign Case Study

This assignment asks you to perform a case study of a human rights campaign.

Human Rights Campaigns involve the following elements:

A group or an organization that is grappling with some question or problem that needs to be addressed, if not actually completely solved.

A description of the problem’s context and the rationale for making it a priority.

A theory of change spelling out the logic of a possible way to address the problem and bring about change.

    A plan of action.

In the case of a completed campaign, there may also be an evaluation of results and lessons learned.

Once you have completed your case study, your task is to prepare and deliver a presentation that provides an overview of the Human Rights Campaign you chose. Your presentation should demonstrate an understanding of:

the circumstances of the campaign (who, what, where, etc).

the specific factors influencing the choice of the campaign (both yours and the actual group or organization (in other words, why is (or was) this campaign a priority for people?))

    historical background

central ideas (the theory of change and logic of the plan)

specific actions (how was/will this campaign (be) executed)

    opportunities and challenges

The presentation should be roughly 10-15 minutes long, and your PowerPoint should have about 12 slides. Please note that the oral component can be submitted as a video or podcast; it can also be done live via telephone or Zoom meeting.

Here is a list of campaigns that you could use for your case study. You may also choose another campaign, but please share any new ideas right away with me via email, so we can make sure you have enough resources to support a complete case study!
